  • All of government work programme to be set up to improve infrastructure asset management and performance

    New Zealand is ranked fourth to last in the OECD for asset management, with delayed maintenance leading to deteriorating or failing assets and expensive repairs.

    A new work programme is to be introduced in two phases. 
    Phase 1: short term improvements;
    Phase 2: development of a 30-year National Infrastructure Plan.

  • Eco-mix incorporating soft plastic, glass and toner used for road in Shoalhaven City, NSW

    A two-lane kilometre of road has been paved in Shoalhaven City, NSW utilising the equivalent of 500,000 plastic bags/ packaging, 165,000 glass bottles and toner from 12,000 used printer cartridges.

    Once the West Nowra Resource Recovery Facility is built in a couple of years, over 90% of the Shoalhaven's household mixed-waste will be diverted from landfill. The facility will capture all recyclables, including green waste and convert them into biomass that can be used as an additive for brick manufacture and cement rendering.
