Introducing our Company Founder
Solution-SE and the Asphalt Preservation Company have been founded by Simon Everett, a New Zealander with more than 40 years’ experience in bulk bitumen supply, asphalt manufacturing, pavement construction and maintenance.
Throughout his career Simon has led major infrastructure businesses and completed complex roading projects in New Zealand and the Pacific Basin. After leaving school he worked in his family construction business Blacktop Group for 25 years gaining experience across supply, operations, manufacturing and management with business operations in three countries and both islands of New Zealand. In 2014 Simon founded ASCO Asphalt, building a successful asphalt manufacturing and contracting business that was subsequently acquired by global infrastructure company COLAS in 2023.
Simon’s career has included a number of significant highlights, including:
Project Director for the Auckland Harbour Bridge Resurfacing Project, a technically complex 15-year initiative recognised with a Roading NZ industry achievement award
The development and delivery of several innovative surfacing materials and asphalt technologies in New Zealand including the award-winning Newmarket Viaduct Surfacing Project
Contribution to industry through roles on the Executive Councils of Roading New Zealand and the New Zealand Contractors Federation supporting collaboration and innovation across the sector
Establishing a dedicated bitumen laboratory and testing capability to improve material performance and quality assurance
Introducing and representation of premium pavement preservation solutions to the New Zealand market, including BRP Road Patch for durable pothole repair and targeted pavement waterproofing, alongside SteelGuard XL sealcoat technology, used in the award-winning Taupō Airport resurfacing project recognised by NZ Airports
Advancing new sustainable bitumen extending technologies for use in asphalt including devulcanized rubber from end of life tyres, recovered polymers from waste plastics and bio-based bitumen modifiers derived from lignin.
Today his focus is on advancing pavement preservation solutions that extend pavement life, improve productivity, deliver tangible sustainable outcomes, and help communities live and move around in resilient road networks.
